Cookie banner · Proof of consent · Privacy requests

Cookie consent that is fair to your visitors and simple for you

Consentl shows each visitor the cookie banner their region expects, with Reject as easy as Accept. It holds back the scripts you choose until people say yes, keeps a record of each choice it receives and helps you answer privacy requests on time.

Works with WordPress and WooCommerce, Shopware, PrestaShop, Magento, Google Tag Manager and any website.

Free plan, no credit card. Paid plans start with one 14-day free trial per account and renew automatically until you cancel. Billing, cancellation and withdrawal

Three ways to use Consentl

It is the same banner and the same service underneath. What changes is how your site connects to it.

  • Consentl for websites

Your dashboard at app.consentl.com is where you design the banner with a live preview, set rules per region, review your cookies, export consent records and answer privacy requests. Our hosted service delivers the banner to your site, so changes go live without touching your code.

    How the website snippet works
  • Plugins for your platform

Free plugins for WordPress and WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopware 6 and Magento 2 put the banner in the right place and pass each choice to your shop's own consent settings. For other sites there is a one-line snippet and a Google Tag Manager template.

  • Consentl for Shopify Coming soon

A native Shopify app is on its way. It is not in the Shopify App Store yet, so there is nothing to install today. Our Shopify page will link to the listing as soon as it is published.

    About the Shopify app

For developers: a JavaScript API to read and react to each visitor's choice, events and dataLayer pushes for your tags, and embeddable blocks for the cookie declaration and the request forms. JavaScript API reference

Works where you sell

Install a plugin, or paste one line into your site's <head>. The banner, regions and texts are then managed in one dashboard, whatever platform you use.

  • WordPress & WooCommerce

Connect in one click. Passes each choice to the WP Consent API, keeps WooCommerce order attribution off until marketing is allowed, and gets its updates from consentl.com.

  • Shopware 6

Replaces the Shopware cookie bar and keeps Shopware's cookie groups in sync, so the wishlist, videos and analytics follow each visitor's choice.

  • PrestaShop

Module for PrestaShop 8 and 9 with ready-made privacy pages, shortcodes, a theme widget and multistore support.

  • Magento / Adobe Commerce

Bridges each choice to Magento's Cookie Restriction Mode, adds CMS widgets and works with Luma, Hyvä and full-page caching.

  • Any website

One script tag, first in <head>. Our guides show exactly where it goes on Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, Next.js, Nuxt and more.

  • Google Tag Manager

A tag template you import by hand. It sets Consent Mode defaults per region and, on Pro and higher, passes each choice on to your Google tags.

There are also step-by-step guides for Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, Ghost, Framer, Next.js, Nuxt, Astro and single-page apps. Browse all setup guides

What Consentl does for you

Each feature solves a real problem of asking for consent. Features that need a paid plan say which one.

  • The right banner in every region

Privacy laws differ: the EU, the UK and Switzerland expect opt-in, US state laws an opt-out, other places a notice. Consentl picks the rule from the visitor's country. Ready-made rules come with every plan, for the EU/EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Quebec, Brazil, US state laws (with Global Privacy Control) and more. Business adds your own consent model per law.

  • Reject as easy as Accept

Saying no should be as easy as saying yes. The first layer has equal buttons, visitors can choose per category, and a “Cookie settings” link lets them change their mind at any time.

  • Trackers wait for a yes

A banner on its own does not stop tags from running. Mark any script, iframe or image and Consentl holds it back until the visitor agrees, on every plan. Business adds automatic blocking of known trackers and your own blocking rules.

  • Google Consent Mode v2 (Pro and higher)

Google requires consent signals for ads personalisation and remarketing for visitors in the EEA and the UK. The loader sets regional defaults for the Google tags that load after it and updates them with every choice. Meta, Microsoft and TikTok get consent signals too.

  • Proof of consent

If you are ever asked how you got consent, you need records. Consentl keeps a pseudonymous record of each choice it receives, with the banner version shown and a shortened IP address, and you can export them as CSV. Records are kept from 425 days on Free up to 1,825 days on Enterprise.

  • Cookie scanner and declaration

Hard to keep track of what your site sets? The scanner visits it like a new visitor, before and after accepting, and lists the cookies and storage it finds. They feed your cookie declaration, which you can embed or link as a hosted page. Business adds a monthly scan with an e-mail report.

  • Privacy requests, on time

Visitors can ask to see or delete their data. A request form with e-mail verification brings each request into your dashboard with the deadline for the visitor's law. Pro and higher add an EU withdrawal button and page where your customers can withdraw from an online purchase; it helps with Art. 11a of the Consumer Rights Directive, which you can also meet by other means.

  • 34 banner languages

Ready-made banner texts in 34 languages, including all 24 official EU languages. The banner follows the language of the page. Pro and higher let you edit the texts in every language.

  • Built with accessibility in mind

With the built-in themes the banner is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 AA: keyboard and screen-reader support and a visible focus. Custom colours must keep a contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text. You can also publish an accessibility statement for your site; it supports, but does not by itself meet, the information duties of the European Accessibility Act.

Live in four steps

  1. Create a free account

Sign up at app.consentl.com and add your site with every domain it runs on.

  2. Connect your site

Install the plugin for your platform and click Connect, or paste the loader script first in your site's <head>.

  3. Choose your rules

Pick your regions, design the banner with a live preview and check the cookies the scanner found.

  4. Go live

Visitors see the banner their region expects. You see their choices and requests in the dashboard.

What happens when someone visits your site

The Consentl loader runs first in <head>. It looks up the visitor's country to choose your rule for that region (in memory, without storing it), applies a returning visitor's earlier choice straight away and holds back the tags that wait for consent. The banner's interface is a separate file that loads after it, so the script in <head> stays small.

When the visitor decides, the choice is saved in a cookie on their device, released tags start, your platform and (on Pro and higher) Google Consent Mode are told, and a record is sent to Consentl as your proof.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes the banner with the ready-made rules for every region, the consent log with CSV export, privacy requests and the cookie declaration. Paid plans start at $7 per site per month (prices in USD; taxes may apply).

Do I need to write code?

No. On WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopware, PrestaShop and Magento you install the plugin and click Connect. On any other site you paste one script tag into the <head>; our guides show where it goes on each platform.

Will Consentl make my website compliant?

No tool can do that on its own. Consentl gives you a fair banner, rules per region, proof of consent and a way to answer requests, but whether your site complies also depends on your settings and on everything else your site does. Consentl does not give legal advice.

Is there a Shopify app?

It is coming soon. The Consentl app for Shopify is not in the Shopify App Store yet, so it cannot be installed today. Our Shopify page will link to the listing once it is published.

Will it slow down my site?

The loader is one small script that browsers cache. It runs first and synchronously because that is the only way to hold back trackers before they start; the banner's interface loads separately, after it.

Do I need Google Consent Mode?

If you use Google Ads, or Google Analytics linked to Google Ads, with visitors from the EEA or the UK, Google requires consent signals for ads personalisation and remarketing. Consentl sends them on Pro and higher.

Does Consentl support IAB TCF?

No. On Pro and higher Consentl supports Google Consent Mode v2 and the consent APIs of Meta, Microsoft and TikTok, but it does not support the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework on any plan.

Where is the data stored?

Our servers and database run in Frankfurt, Germany, so consent records are stored in the EU. Some of our providers, such as our hosting company and its network edge, are US companies; the sub-processor list says where they process data and which safeguards apply.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Yes, at any time, on the dashboard's billing page. A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and then moves to Free.
