Free cookie scanner for your website

Scan your website for cookies and local storage before and after consent, and turn the results into a cookie declaration you can embed or link.

Why scan your site

Plugins, embedded videos, chat widgets and ad tags add cookies you may not know about, and they change over time. To ask for consent you need to know what your site sets, which category each cookie belongs to and who sets it. A cookie policy that lists the wrong cookies does not inform visitors.

How the scanner works

The scanner visits your site like a new visitor would, in a real browser, twice: once before any choice and once after accepting all cookies. It lists:

  • cookies, with their domain and lifetime;
  • local and session storage entries;
  • whether each item appeared before or only after consent.

Cookies the scanner recognises get a suggested category (necessary, preferences, analytics, marketing).

Cookies found before consent that are not strictly necessary are a sign that a tag is not held back yet.

You review the results in the dashboard, adjust categories and descriptions, and the list feeds your cookie declaration. Embed it in your cookie policy with one line of HTML, or link the hosted page that Consentl keeps up to date.

FAQ

Yes. Create a free account, add your site and start a scan; the Free plan scans up to 5 pages.

Can the scanner see cookies set after login?

On the Enterprise plan the scanner can sign in to a password-protected site with credentials you store encrypted in the dashboard. On other plans it scans what a new visitor sees.

Does a scan find everything?

A scan finds what the visited pages set during the visit. Cookies that appear only after a purchase, on pages that were not scanned or for some visitors only can be missing, so review the list and add what you know your site uses.
