Proof of consent for every choice
Consentl keeps a pseudonymous record of every consent choice, with the banner version shown, and lets you export the records as CSV when you need to prove consent.
Why you need records
The GDPR requires you to be able to demonstrate that a visitor consented (Article 7(1)). If a supervisory authority or a visitor asks how you got consent, a screenshot of your banner is not enough: you need to show what a given visitor was shown and what they chose, and when.
What each record contains
- a random consent ID, the same one kept in the visitor's consent cookie;
- the date and time of the choice and the categories accepted or rejected;
- the banner version shown, the region rule applied and the page where the choice was made;
- a shortened IP address (never the full address), the browser and the visitor's country;
- whether the browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal.
Records are pseudonymous: they contain no name, e-mail address or full IP address.
Search and export
Find a record by its consent ID or by date in the dashboard, and export records as CSV. The Business plan adds consent analytics: accept and reject rates per region and over time.
How long records are kept
| Plan | Retention |
|---|---|
| Free, Pro | 425 days |
| Business | 730 days |
| Enterprise | 1,825 days |
Records are never deleted while the consent they prove can still be valid: the retention is at least the consent lifetime you set plus a safety margin.
